Saturday was a fantastic day! Thank you to everyone who helped make Spring Fair 2009 such a incredible event. Excited children have been describing the day as “the best day ever,” and many people have told us about finding great buys, winning auction items, enjoying delicious food and fabulous entertainment, and seeing many, many smiling faces.

An event like this can only be done with the help of many volunteers. Students, teachers, parents and friends, and the great support of the SMUS community contributed so much. We’re also happy to report that our environmentally-aware fair was a great success, with our compostable dishes and other innovations greatly reducing the waste produced by such a massive gathering.
We look forward to finding out our final fundraising total (and what these ever-important funds will provide for our school and its students), but we are most excited by the fair itself, which is always a great event for families to enjoy together.
Our sincerest thanks,
Mary Pollen and Patti MacIntyre-Gray

We have a schedule and site map for the big day. You can pick up a copy tomorrow morning or you can see it online.
Please remember to park at Camosun if you are driving. Lots #6 and #7 off of Foul Bay Rd are available for us, and you can take the shuttle bus or walk to the school from the end of Argyle St.
I hope you all enjoy the day, and thank you again to all of the volunteers, who are making the day possible, and all of our wonderful donors.

Hello all
With just over a week to go, our Spring Fair is really coming together.
Monday, May 4th, people can come and pick-up the plants they ordered through us from Wenman between 2-5 pm.
We have lined up free parking at Camosun College for May 9th, with a shuttle bus to campus, so that everyone can easily bring home all their fabulous finds.
For the cake walk, it would be great if a few more people were able to bake up something – the more cakes, the more fun it is. If you think you can help with this, contact Jill Forgrave (381-5378).
We are still looking for volunteers to spend an hour or two making candy floss, watching kids at they bounce around in our inflatable castle, and helping visitors sift through our massive garage sale. We would really like to have all the help we need for the big day, so please let us know if you can spare a few minutes.

With only two weeks to go, we are still in need of more volunteers for the big day. It’s a busy time of year for our students and for ourselves, but if you think you can spare an hour or two on Saturday, please let us know. The more volunteers we have, the less time they have to spend volunteering!
We’re also looking for people to help us price and sort the many used good that have been kindly donated to us. This would be on the Thursday and Friday before the big day.
If you think you can help out at all, please contact Nikki(bridger@shaw.ca).
If you’re planning to donate some good for us, this upcoming Wednesday will be our last drop-off day, so clean out your closets and come to see us! We are also still accepting last-minute donations for our silent auction – let us know if you have something you’d like to contribute, be it your time, a special item or anything else!
Everything is coming together wonderfully. Thank you, all of you, for your tremendous support.

Our last two drop-off days for all kinds of donations will be Wednesday, April 22nd and Wednesday, April 29th between 7:30 and 8:30 am at all campuses – a great way to celebrate Earth Week! Remember, every family that donates used goods is entered into a draw for an iPod Touch. We will happily pick up if you have too much to bring to the school. Just send us an email (mary.pollen@shaw.ca)
Our Silent Auction is growing fast, but we’re always looking for more donations. Contact Marianne Bianco (mkbianco@shaw.ca) or Liz Butterfield (butterfields@shaw.ca) for more information.
New or gently used (re-gifted) items or crafts are welcome for the Emporium. Contact Cathy Hall (catherinehall@shaw.ca) if you have any items you’d like to get rid of.
It’s never too late to volunteer! Contribute an hour or two and help us have a whole day of fun. If you have a green thumb, we’d love your help potting plants on May 5th and 6th. Contact Belinda (belinda@owen-flood.com) or Susan (ghyatt@telus.net) for more information. Are you a baker? Anna (tonyanna@telus.net) needs you.
To volunteer on the day of the fair, contact Nikki (bridger@shaw.ca), Mary (mary.pollen@shaw.ca) or Patti (drjasongray@shaw.ca) to find out how you can help.
Many thanks to everyone who has offered their stuff and support to us. Only a few weeks left to go!
