Students, family and staff enjoy a candle-lit evening of Jazz in the SMUS gym, with talented swing musicians from the Middle and Senior schools. Jazz in the Round is held every year to celebrate the hard work of the jazz, vocal and swing ensembles.

Spring Band Concert May 08

The Middle School and Senior School band students show off their talents at the much-anticipated cross-campus Spring Band Concert. 252 band students in Grades 7 through 12 assemble on stage to perform a version of “Battle Hymn of the Republic” that has been specially arranged by Mr. Reid to allow every student to participate.

Greatest Love of All – Tony Cordle

The SMUS Senior School’s annual Spring Band Concert features over 150 musicians in three Concert Bands playing a variety of music from symphonic to music from the movies and musicals. Band director John S. Reid pays tribute to long standing staff member, friend and colleague Tony Cordle. Tony, complete with a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers and a plaque inscribed “The Greatest Love of All” from the music students of SMUS, opens with “The Greatest Love of All” accompanied by the Senior Concert Band.
