Housing Crisis Hits our Youth Hard Queen of Hearts Mardi Gras Dance
Feb 9th, 2010 by Roslyn van der Wal
Presently, the current demand for stable YOUTH housing exceeds the supply. All youth housing agencies offer opportunities to get involved. On Feb. 13, 2010 (this Saturday) 7-10 pm at the Ambrosia Event Centre (638 Fisgard) the Threshold Housing Society is offering one fun way to show your support: a Mardi Gras Masquerade benefit dance. Proceeds from this event will support youth housing directly. Every two tickets sold will secure a youth a warm bed for one night. Not only can you get your parents involved by coming out, you can volunteer your time. There is a hot rockabilly band (think early Johnny Cash meets a bit of early Elvis), great costume prizes, and a 30 min. swing dance lesson so everyone knows how to jive to the hoppin’ 50’s music. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Tickets available at Larsen Music 1833 Cook St.
