ALS Fundraising Event

ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Between 1,500 and 2,000 Canadians currently live with ALS. The cause is unknown. There is no known cure or treatment that prolongs life significantly – yet. They need our help to raise funds.

The ALS Society of BC is looking for people to help with canvassing at the Shelbourne Plaza on Saturday June 4th. Volunteers serve two hour shifts from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is no hard sell involved-just smile and say hi (and thank you). Last year, over $18,000.00 was raised at 25 different CRD locations for the continuing medical research into this dreadful disease.

The ALS Society of BC is dedicated to providing direct support to ALS patients, along with their families and caregivers, to ensure the best quality of life possible while living with ALS. Through assisting research, they are committed to find the cause of, and cure for ALS.

If you are interested in helping out, please contact John Arnold at jmarnold@shaw.ca or call him at 250-721-3204.
