Before the lights went up on Guys and Dolls, SMUS took over the McPherson Playhouse for an evening celebrating our talented artists and unveiling an impressive array of their work in the McPherson’s galleries. Over 100 students had their work on display and the show included drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpting, photography and more.

It’s always exciting to see artwork at the Senior School level. While the artists have honed their skills considerably, they are also still experimenting and finding their own unique style.

Hosting an opening is also important for the students, because it gives them a taste of the life of a professional artist (which at least a few of them plan to become). If you didn’t get a chance to take in the show during the intermission from the musical, the SMUS art show continues at the McPherson Playhouse until April 2.

The video below takes a short look at the show and the work that goes into it.
