The SMUS Pride Alliance celebrated Pride Day on May 17th, which was also the International Day Against Homophobia. Students could buy SMUS Pride t-shirts and buttons, enter a raffle, and sign the Pride banner, pledging not to use derogatory language like “that’s so gay.”
Homeroom teachers we also given resources and videos to share with students, such as an uplifting video about preventing homophobic bullying and celebrities taking a stand against using homophobic phrases.
