All teams may enter one competitor in the 3 pt Shooting Contest. Names should be given to Ian Hyde-Lay at the Coaches Meeting. He will in turn pass these on to Reagan Daly, who will run the event.
It will be possible for teams to make a late change(s) to their designated shooter.
The competition rules are as follows:
a) All participants (shooters and rebounders) must wear team uniform, or t-shirt/team sweats. No casual clothes allowed. No hats. Each team must supply a maximum of three balls to be used by its shooter. The tournament will not supply balls for the event.
b) Each shooter may select a maximum of three teammates to rebound/supply balls. These three teammates may use any system they choose to relay the balls to the shooter.
c) The shooter may move anywhere he wishes around the three point line
d) Only successful shots taken from behind the line will count – ie, both feet of the shooter must be behind the line on the release of the shot.
e) Each participant will shoot for ONE MINUTE, as per the draw listed below.
f) After all 16 shooters have posted a total, the top 8 shooters will advance to the second round. Any ties will be broken by a 30 second “shootoff”.
g) The 8 successful participants will shoot for ONE MINUTE, in pairs named by the announcer John Edgar.
h) After all 8 shooters have posted a total, the top 2 shooters will advance to the final. Any ties will be broken by a 30 second “shootoff”.
i) The final two participants will shoot for ONE MINUTE. A tie will be decided by a 30 second “shootoff(s)”.
j) The 3pt champion will be presented with his award immediately after this final round.
k) Once the court is clear, the teams playing in the second semifinal will be given a 15 minute warm-up.
